The Colac Shire Council and The Colac and District Chamber of Commerce and Industry have led the charge to have Colac become the first community to be accredited as a Chinese-Friendly Community by G’day Friends.
G’day Friends helps local businesses engage with Chinese guests through QR codes. While not heavily adopted yet in Australia, QR codes are used widely in China for marketing, special offers and payment.
Some of the benefits of making your community Chinese-friendly:
- Educate the community – government, businesses and individuals – on the opportunities provided by Chinese visitors, and how to capitalise on them
- Generate more sales for local businesses
- Create more local jobs
- Become known as a Chinese-friendly place to visit
