How to scan your QR Code using your smartphone
There are several ways you can scan your QR code using your smartphone. It will depend on the type of smartphone you have and how old it is for which method will work best for you.
We have included some options below. If you are having difficulty with the processes we have provided please contact our team.
Android
(E.g. Samsung, HTC, Google, LG)
Using your camera
Open the camera on your phone and focus it on the QR Code.
Press and hold the ‘home’ button. This will activate the Google Assistant.
In Google Assistant select ‘What’s on my screen?’
(Note: you may need to activate Google lens for this function to work)
The scan will provide you with a link to your G’day Friends profile.
Click on the website provided.
You can now scan your online profile.
Installing an App
Open the Play Store on your Android device.
Type QR Code reader into the search box and tap the search button. This displays a list of QR code reading apps.
Select the app you would like to install.
For this example, we are using QR code reader developed by Scan.
Tap ‘Install’.
A pop-up will appear, asking you to give permission for the app to access information on your Android device.
Note: it is recommended that you check reviews and app permissions to make sure you feel secure with the settings before installing.
Open the QR Code Reader.
When the app opens it will look similar to a standard camera screen.
Line up the QR code in the camera frame.
It is like taking a photo, except you don’t have to press a button.
When in focus the reader will scan the code and a pop-up containing your URL will appear.
Tap OK to open the website.
This launches using your default web browser and will redirect you to the URL in the QR Code – your online profile.

Using your camera
Open the Camera app from your iPhone.
Located on either the home screen, control center or lock screen.
Hold your device so that the QR code appears in the Camera app’s viewfinder.
Your device recognizes the QR code and shows a notification.
Tap the notification to open the link associated with the QR code.
